Utility-scale solar on the South African Highveld

Renewable energy, built with the people, for the people.

From the Highveld to the Karoo, we are building the renewable energy infrastructure South Africa needs, with landowners, communities and investors who make it possible.

We build utility-scale renewable energy solutions on South African land, with the people who live on it.

Every project begins with a conversation with a landowner and culminates in reliable renewable energy generation. We manage the full lifecycle of utility-scale energy infrastructure - from site assessment and development to construction and grid connection. Along the way, we create lasting local value through long-term lease income, construction employment and operational jobs that support communities for years to come.

Our strategies

We develop, finance, and operate utility scale Solar Farms and Battery Storage Solutions across South Africa. Wheeled and on-site structures for mining, industrial, and commercial off-takers.

Focus areas:

  • Community-based utility-scale solar development
  • Greenfield utility-scale solar project development
  • Wheeled power purchase agreements (PPAs) for commercial and industrial off-takers
  • On-site renewable energy generation for mining and industrial operations

Our approach

We take the lead in renewable energy projects across South Africa. Working with local stakeholders and investors, we use a tried-and-tested process that delivers returns while keeping communities and ecosystems at the centre.

We assess solar resource, grid distance, terrain, water access, and the impact on local communities and ecosystems. We walk the land before we model it.

Six months of Highveld site walks confirmed the solar resource, grid adjacency, and landowner readiness before MOU. The site's proximity to the Samancor smelter corridor made it a natural fit for wheeled C&I off-take — but that only became clear after walking the land.

Renewable energy and the IRP: the case for B-BBEE compliant independent power producers in South Africa

An analysis of how South Africa's IRP targets, JET framework, and Climate Change Act, 2024 creates structural demand for B-BBEE compliant utility-scale developers and what that means for government procurement, local job creation, and grid reliability.

  • IRP solar PV targets and REIPPPP bid positioning
  • JET framework alignment and community development outcomes
  • B-BBEE compliance as structural advantage in procurement
  • Grid economics: wheeling, load-shedding, and industrial off-take
